BOISE, Idaho — Former Boise State guard Chibuzo Agbo is returning to Southern California to play his final year of college basketball in the new-look Big Ten.
The San Diego native is transferring to USC, announcing his commitment Monday night on social media. Agbo entered the transfer portal on April 18 after 67 appearances in two seasons with the Broncos.
Agbo averaged a career-best 13.7 points per game this past season, while shooting 40.9% from the 3-point line and 45.2% from the field. The senior played a big part in Boise State's third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, leading the team with 76 made 3-pointers and grabbing 5.1 rebounds per contest.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound guard is the latest addition for Eric Musselman, who was named the new head coach at USC on April 4 following five seasons at Arkansas. Musselman coached in the Mountain West at Nevada from 2016 to 2019.
According to 247Sports, Agbo is the seventh player to transfer to USC and the fifth commit in as many days. He joins fellow newcomers such as Rashaun Agee (Bowling Green), Matt Knowling (Yale) and Saint Thomas (Northern Colorado).
Agbo earned an honorable mention nod from the Mountain West's head coaches in March, the first all-conference recognition of his career. He started in all 33 of Boise State's games this past season and was previously considered the No. 3 returning player in the Mountain West, according to Bart Torvik.
Boise State returns two starters in Tyson Degenhart and O'Mar Stanley. Point guard Roddie Anderson III announced he is entering the transfer portal Tuesday evening. The Broncos also added a transfer in former San Jose State guard Alvaro Cardenas, who stood out on a Spartan team that struggled.
However, Agbo and departing starter Max Rice combined for 25.9 points per game and 150 of Boise State's 258 made 3-pointers during the 2023-2024 season. Head coach Leon Rice could explore the portal again, although the Broncos have some young options on the roster.
