BOISE, Idaho — The accolades continue to pour in for Heisman hopeful Ashton Jeanty. Boise State's star running back on Tuesday was named a semifinalist for the 88th Maxwell Award.
The Maxwell Football Club announced Jeanty is one of 16 semifinalists for the annual award, which is presented to the college football player of the year. Former Washington quarterback and current Atlanta Falcon Michael Penix Jr. won the 2023 award.
Jeanty ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns on a career-high 34 carries in Boise State's 28-21 win over conference foe Nevada on Saturday at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos visit San Jose State this weekend riding seven straight victories.
Boise State's 215-pound bruiser currently leads the nation in rushing yards (1,734), touchdowns (23), yards per game (192.7), yards after contact (1,260) and missed tackles forced (90). He also leads the FBS with 1,827 all-purpose yards and 144 points.
Jeanty is the lone Mountain West player to be named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award. Semifinalist voting for the award runs through Nov. 23. Three finalists will be announced on Nov. 26, when a finalist round of voting will begin.
The winners of the 88th Maxwell Award will be announced live on ESPN as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 12. The formal presentation of the Maxwell and Chuck Bednarik Awards is set for March 14, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

Jeanty on Tuesday was also named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week for the fourth time this season. The honor came one day after he was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for the sixth time in 2024.
Boise State visits San Jose State on Saturday, Nov. 16, for a conference battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. MT on CBS Sports Network.
