BOISE, Idaho — Following a big win against San Diego State, 56-24, the Boise State Broncos have climbed to #12 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The team's highest ranking since 2011, when the Broncos were at #8 in the final poll that season.
"The Broncos boast one of the top FBS offenses, ranking third in scoring (45.8 ppg) and fourth in rushing offense (267.9 ypg), total offense (509.1 ypg) and fourth down conversion percentage (84.6)," a Bronco news release stated. "They also rank second in fewest turnovers, committing only four in eight games. Defensively, Boise State leads the nation in sacks per game, averaging 4.75. The unit averages 8.4 tackles for loss per game, ranking fourth in the nation."
The team is also up several spots from last week in the US LBM Coaches Poll, coming in at 14. This week Boise State grabbed a total of 853 points in the AP Poll and 615 in the Coaches Poll.
"Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title," the release stated.
The next game is on The Blue, hosting Nevada to a sold-out stadium on Nov.9. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. MST and it airs nationally on Fox.
