TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Traffic was at a standstill on eastbound I-84 near Glenns Ferry Tuesday morning due to a crash involving a semi truck, according to a tweet from the Idaho Transportation Department.
The backup was estimated to be 10 miles amid wintry and slick road conditions. Westbound I-84 traffic was moving slowly.
Idaho State Police and Elmore County Sheriff's deputies are responding to a large number of vehicles crashed and slid off the road between Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry.
Around 4 p.m., Idaho State Police sent out a traffic update, saying all eastbound and westbound lanes are open to travel.
Snow falling on I-84 in southern Idaho causing havoc for drivers
Light snow was falling across the Magic Valley on Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Motorists should expect slick driving conditions and blowing and drifting snow in other areas, like US 93 heading to the Nevada border.
These conditions can be expected in and near Gooding, Hagerman, Buhl, Twin Falls, and Rogerson.
Earlier Tuesday, Highway 20 near Idaho Falls had multiple slide-offs near milepost 293 during "difficult road conditions" in the area from the winter storm, according to Idaho State Police.
Many parts of Southern Idaho were experiencing the coldest day of the season.
