IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — In March of 2024, five felony charges were up against 23-year-old Lance Broncho in relation to the death of Eric Leask in Idaho Falls. He ended up pleading guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated battery on Aug. 12, and was sentenced to 35 years to life on Oct. 7.
"Idaho Falls Police detectives should get a lot of credit for their thorough investigation which led quickly to an arrest in this case," said Prosecutor Randy Neal.
Broncho initially faced first-degree murder, robbery, burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and aggravated battery charges. However, the other three charges were dismissed due to a plea agreement. Broncho shot two people while attempting a home invasion. Eric Leask, 51, was shot and killed and Ormead Smith, 22, was shot.
Broncho was also sentenced to 10 to 15 years for the aggravated battery charge, and that sentence will be served concurrently.
