BOISE, Idaho — Fairmont Junior High School in Boise has a new gym and cafeteria.
The school, located on Cole Road just north of Fairview Avenue, celebrated with a ribbon cutting and open house Tuesday afternoon.
The new facility provides more space for physical education and for school lunch preparation, and for students to sit down and eat at lunch time.
Principal Quane Kenyon says it also eases a scheduling crunch for classes and extra-curricular events.
“Now we have two gyms. Our kids aren't here 'til 7:30, 8 o'clock at night practicing. We're done at 5, 5:30. And, you know, the space is beautiful. Beautiful gym," Kenyon said.
Money raised through the 2017 Boise School Bond funded the new gym and cafeteria for Fairmont, and expansion or construction for many schools around Boise.
