BOISE, Idaho — Prep teams eagerly await prove-it opportunities in the Idaho high school football state playoffs. As the wait for this week's opening round continues, reporters picked the favorites to finish atop each classification.

A pair of Treasure Valley powers landed among the top-ranked teams in the final Idaho high school football state media poll of the season, released Tuesday. Eagle dropped one spot after a 38-0 loss to undefeated Rocky Mountain in the 6A SIC title game.

The 5A rankings went unchanged Tuesday, with Skyline and Bishop Kelly splitting first-place votes entering postseason play. Weiser moved up one spot in the 4A poll following its 70-13 rout of Payette, jumping defending state champion Sugar-Salem.

Also on the rise as big dance arrives is Valley – winners of seven games in a row after a season-opening loss to Butte County. The Vikings earned a first-place vote in the 2A rankings after a 58-22 win over Notus.
